Fazilka: Local Congress MLA Davinder Singh Ghubaya allegedly threatened an SHO, Sub-Inspector Luvmeet Kaur, on the phone. In an audio clip which went viral on Thursday, Ghubaya is purportedly heard telling the officer, “Tu saade bandeya nu tang karan lag payi hai. Tu SHO lagi hoi hain, koi rab ta nahi hain, tu abda julli bistra chak, tenu ethon bhaja dena hai (you are harassing our supporters, you have been appointed SHO here, you are not God, pack your bags, you will be shunted out).”

The MLA was reportedly arguing on behalf of one of his supporters, who had been challaned by the SHO for not possessing motorcycle documents. In the clip, the SHO is heard saying that she had asked for papers of the vehicle, but the person threatened her. She asks the MLA to use decent language, but he continues with his outburst, prompting her to dare him to get her shifted.

When contacted, Ghubaya alleged that the SHO was torturing and demanding bribe from his supporters. The MLA said he had to take care of his voters and supporters. He also alleged that the SHO did not respond to his calls on her official phone number, following which he had to contact her on her private number.
Luvmeet Kaur denied Ghubaya’s allegations.

Last month, Congress MLA Sushil Rinku had threatened Joint Commissioner Aashika Jain during a demolition drive in Basti Danishmandan, Jalandhar.

He had said:“Aap to lady ho, koi gents hota toh phir mein batata ke kaise behave karta hoon (Had you been a man, I would have shown you how I behave),” pointing a finger at the IAS officer and daring her to set foot in his constituency. She had replied that she was only implementing the law.
