DC Leh meets several delegations

LEH, OCTOBER 17: A number of delegations today called on Deputy Commissioner Leh Avny Lavasa here and put forth various grievances and issues before her.

The deputations include representatives of Truck, Bus, Maazda, Taxi, Tempo, 207 and 407 Unions, Merchant, Hotel and Contractors Associations, ALTOA and Indian Mountaineering Federation (IMF).

ADC Moses Kunzang, Administrator MC Rigzin Spalgon, Regional Transport Officer Delex Namgial, AD Tourism Tsering Angmo and AD FCS&CA Ruth Mary were also present.

The issue of vintage vehicles with Army was raised by all the transport unions during the interaction. The Union representatives urged the Administration to cease vehicles causing traffic nuisance. The Bus and Mazda Unions demanded to streamline and fixing of plying routes.

On the occasion, DC said that issue of vintage vehicles will be taken up shortly. She assured to fix the routes for buses and informed that no new permits will be issued for new buses/mazdas. She urged the transporters to ensure comfortable conditions for long distance travels. On demand of drinking water facility by taxi, 207, 407 and tempo traveler representatives, she said that soon MC will have their own water tanker supplying water daily on the need basis.

Merchant Association suggested taking up the cleanliness mission on a more frequent basis, demanded better water supply in the market area, and reduction in cargo fare. DC said that administration is already working on cleanliness projects and urged for their cooperation in ensuring cleanliness in and around the market.

The representatives of Hotel Association focused on the need to take up projects on the public-private partnership to address environment-related issues. They also raised issues concerning beggars, stray dogs, night patrolling, parking and high-altitude related incidents with tourists.

DC also had an interaction with the President and members of IMF, ALTOA and Contractors Association. She urged them to provide the best of the services to the people and assured them of all possible support in the smooth functioning of their business.
