Undertrial’s bid to flee Kharar court foiled

Kharar: An undertrial tried to escape from the Kharar court complex today. According to sources, Anuj, alias Khan, a resident of Sarangpur (UT), could not succeed in his plan due to prompt action by the police.
According to Resham Singh, ASI, Patiala Jail, he, along with other policemen, had brought some accused to the Kharar court in connection with a case. Anuj appeared in the court at 1 pm from where he was taken to a government vehicle parked on the roadside due to a rush of visitors at the court complex. As soon as the police party, along with Anuj, reached near the vehicle, he managed to run away.

A motorcyclist came to help him. In the meantime, Kharar SI Davinder Singh and other employees ran towards him and succeeded in catching hold of him.

Anuj and a policeman, Gulshan Khan, were injured. The motorcyclist who came to help the accused fled from the spot, leaving the bike behind. The police have impounded the Pulsar motorcycle.

The police have registered a case against Anuj and other unidentified person. The SHO of the Kharar City police station, Bhagwant Singh Riar, said the accused was lodged in Patiala Jail and was allegedly involved in a murder at Sarangpur village.
