A complete shutdown is being observed in Shopian and Pulwama districts of south Kashmir to mourn the killing of two militants in a gunfight earlier today.

Two Al Badr militants – Nawaz Ahmad Wagay son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Rebban Zainapora and Yawar Wani son of Ali Mohammad Wani resident of Batnoor Litter Pulwama – were killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Rebban area.

Reports said that all shops and other commercial establishments are closed in the districts while public transport remained off the roads.

A police official said that the gunfight broke out in Rebban following a cordon-and-search-operation launched by the forces after inputs about the presence of the militants in the area.
