Speaker visits MLA Hostel; Seeks better amenities for Legislators

SRINAGAR, MAY 23: Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Dr Nirmal Singh today visited the MLA Hostel and took stock of the facilities available to the legislators, there.

Secretary Assembly, MR Singh and other concerned officers also accompanied Dr. Singh during the visit.

The Speaker inspected various sections of the complex including, Residential Quarters, Dispensary, Canteen, Kitchen, lawns besides other areas and took thorough account of the amenities available to the inmates. He also inquired about the quality of healthcare and food facilities. He directed the concerned for improving the overall standard of facilities at the hostel for the Members, besides laying utmost stress on maintaining the sanitation levels within and around the complex.

The Speaker also directed the concerned for ensuring adequate stock of necessary medicines and first-aid in the dispensary besides ensuring availability of medics and paramedics. He also asked the medical staff to maintain punctuality and performing their duty with more zeal and dedication.

Dr. Singh also directed the concerned authorities to explore possibility for adding more infrastructure for providing adequate accommodation and facilities to the Legislators.

Meanwhile a 11-member delegation of Committee on Panchayati Raj of Maharashtra Legislature headed by its Chairman, Suthirtarwe called on the Speaker at the Legislature Complex here today.

The Committee, which is on a study visit to Jammu and Kashmir State visited the Assembly Secretariat also interacted with the officers of the Assembly and enquired about the business of the House and proceedings.

The members of the delegation exchanged their views with the Speaker on several issues relating to the functioning of their respective Houses. They also had discussion on the socio-economic, culture and developmental scenario of both the state
