Cong MLA’s car attacked in Moga as he tries to pacify protesters

Faridkot, December 2: The car of Sukhjeet Singh Kaka Garh, Congress MLA from Dharamkot in Moga, was on Monday attacked by some people in  front of the civil hospital in Moga.

The  MLA had gone to the hospital in the morning to pacify protesters following the death of a youth in a celebratory firing at a marriage function at Mastewala village of Dharamkot in Moga on Saturday evening.

The deceased was a member of a DJ group which was present at the marriage party. He was killed as some youths at the marriage function opened a celebratory fire.

The family and relatives have demanded the arrest of the accused before allowing post-mortem and were staging a protest in front of the Civil Hospital where the body has been kept.

The MLA reportedly reached the hosptial to prevail upon the protesters to allow the post-mortem as the police had registered a case against five people under Section 302 of the IPC.

Seeing the MLA on the spot and accusing him of helping the accused, the protesters, some of them believed to members of the students union, allegedly attacked the car of the MLA.

The MLA reportedly saved his life by escaping from the hospital in his car. However, the protesters pelted the car with stones.
