Chandigarh, August 11: Punjab Civil Service (PCS) officers across the state observed a pen-down strike on Wednesday in protest against the incidents of violence against them.

The officers have been showing resentment for the incidents of violence and their illegal confinement at several places by various organisations protesting against the government. In the past six months, there have been at least 10 incidents where PCS officers have been targeted by protesters.

PCS officers posted in Chandigarh observed the pen down strike by wearing black badges to work.

The PCS officers are also demanding AC cars and two gunmen each at their disposal. While naib tehsildars and superintendents of police get AC Boleros or Scorpios, PCS officers get non-AC Boleros.

PCS Officers Association general secretary Rajat Oberai had told media that Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had promised to fulfil these demands, but it has yet to be done.
