Jammu & Kashmir: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti’s cavalcade was pelted with stones in Sirhama village of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday.

Reports said Mufti was heading towards Bijbehara to attend a workers’ convention after paying obeisance at Khiram shrine when her cavalcade came under a barrage of stones at Sirhama.

An official said that Mufti escaped unhurt in the attack but one of her escort vehicles suffered damage.

He said that the police cordoned off the area and provided a safe passage to Mufti who later reached Bijbehara where she is scheduled to address a workers’ convention.

Mufti, a former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, is the PDP candidate for Anantnag parliamentary constituency which will go to polls in three phase from April 23.
