J-K, Ladakh govt staff to get salaries as per 7th pay panel from Oct 31

New Delhi, October 22: The government employees of the new Union Territories–Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh–would get salaries and other benefits as per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission from October 31, officials said on Tuesday.

The Union Home Ministry has issued the necessary orders.

The Union Home Ministry notified the allowances for 4.5 lakh government employees. The total expenditure of Rs 4,800 crore includes allowances towards children’s education, transport, LTC, medical and others.

On an average, the effective increase in salary of the employees will be around Rs. 4,800 per month.Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved the proposal of payment of all 7th CPC allowances to the government employees of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh, which will come into existence from October 31.

The Centre had on August 5 announced the abrogation of the special status given to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 and its bifurcation into UTs. With PTI
