Banker held for firing into air in Panchkula

Panchkula, July 28: The police today claimed to have arrested a banker for allegedly firing into the air after a party concluded at a restaurant in Sector 9 here on the intervening night of July 26 and 27.

The suspect has been identified as Aashish Sharma, a resident of Barara in Ambala district and employee of a private bank.

KP Singh, owner of The Stage restaurant, and his employee Manoj Kumar, a native of Kalasar village, Kaithal district, who lives in Sector 10, Panchkula, in their complaint to the police, said the suspect, whom they identified as Aashish Sharma, had a brawl with them during the party at the restaurant.

They said after the party ended, the suspect, in order to threaten him (Manoj), fired into the air at 12.02 am. The complainants said they have the CCTV footage and an empty shell of the bullet that was recovered from the spot.

Rajeev Kumar, SHO of the Sector 5 police station, said they had arrested the suspect. He was produced before a court which sent him to 2-day police custody.
