DSEJ, NASYA Organize Webinar on ‘ Integrating Ayurveda into Educational Curriculum ‘


Jammu: Directorate of School Education Jammu in collaboration with National Ayurveda Students and Youth Association, a subsidiary of Vigyan Bharti organized a webinar on ‘ Ayurvidya-2020-Integrating Ayurveda into Educational Curriculum’. Ms. Anuradha Gupta ( KAS) , Director School Education Jammu, Prof. Kuldeep Raj Kohli, Director AYUSH Maharashtra, Dr. Sandeep Rai, a reknowned Ayurveda expert from Lucknow, Dr. Prashant Tiwari, President NASYA and Dr. Pooja Kohli, National Secretary NASYA were the key speakers in the webinar.
The main agenda of the webinar was to discuss the opportunities and challenges of introducing Ayurveda into the school curriculum.
Dr. Arun Gupta, State President and National Executive Member NASYA welcomed the dignitaries and laid emphasis on the integration of Ayurveda into School Curriculum. He moderated the proceedings of the programme too.
Mrs. Anuradha Gupta, Director School Education Jammu presented a detailed account of the schemes and programmes pertinent to the Ayurveda which are being implemented by DSEJ. She expressed her interest in introducing Ayurveda in schools for spreading it into every household.
Prof. Kuldeep Kohli, Director AYUSH Maharashtra highlighted the selective introduction of elements of Ayurveda like Dincharya, Ritucharya, Sadvruta, Medicinal plants into the curriculum and further suggested that Ayurveda Module should be followed as a tool for rational implementation of the idea of introducing Ayurveda into school education in Teacher Training.
Dr. Sandeep Rai emphasized on reviving the traditional health wisdom of Ayurveda and said that this will help in reducing the incidence and prevalence of the diseases. He added that preventive and promotive aspects of Ayurveda must be realized by incorporating it into Textbooks.
Dr. Pooja Kohli highlighted the importance of schools as the mode of implementation of many health programs of Government of India and talked about the vision and mission of NASYA to work with the Education Department for spreading the lessons of Healthy living through Ayurveda to every householdby catching them( students and children) young. She also talked about the challenges which can be overcome with the administrative will and motivation to make Ayurveda the mainstream health care system of India. She urged Director School Education Jammu to revive the healthcare system of India from school.
The webinar was attended by thousands of teachers, Educationists, Ayurveda practitioners and Ayurveda students. Sh. Govind Sharma, Nodal officer coordinated the programme in Jammu Division.
