Srinagar, June 26: A Central Reserve Police Force man and a six-year-old boy was killed when militants attacked a security forces party in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday, police said.

Police said militants riding a bike attacked a CRPF party near Padshahi Bagh Bijbehara around noon in which a CRPF man and a minor boy were injured.

The entire area has been cordoned off.

Meanwhile, three militants were killed in an encounter in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said.

The firefight erupted on Thursday evening at Chewa Ular, Tral, during a cordon and search operation which was launched jointly by Police, Army and CRPF after an input about the militants’ presence.

“There was a brief exchange of fire between the militants and security forces on Thursday evening. The security forces maintained a tight cordon the entire night. The firing resumed on Friday morning and so far three militants have been killed in the operation,” a security official said.

A police officer said the operation is still under way.
