Haryana bags best state award in sanitation and cleanliness field

Chandigarh, Oct 2 – Haryana has bagged the Number-1 State Award for its outstanding achievements in the field of sanitation and cleanliness under Swachh Survekshan Grameen-2018.
The award was given by Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi to Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, who received it on behalf of the state, under Swachh Survekshan Grameen-2018 at a function organised by Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation at New Delhi today. Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr. O.P. Dhankar was also present on this occasion.

The top six districts of the country under the Swachh Survekshan Grameen-2018 included three districts of Haryana namely Gurugram, Karnal and Rewari. Union Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation, Uma Bharti presented these district awards to three districts of Haryana.
After receiving the award, the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal congratulated the people of the state and said the Swachhta Abhiyan launched by the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi was given the form of a mass movement in Haryana for which the state has got this award.
It may be recalled that under Swachh Bharat Mission, all rural areas of Haryana were made Open Defecation Free (ODF) by June 2017. Similarly, all cities of the State were made ODF by October 2017.
In the field of sanitation, several schemes are being implemented for solid and liquid waste management in urban and rural areas of Haryana. A target has been set to establish solid and liquid waste management units in all villages of Haryana by 2019. Out of the total solid and liquid waste management units approved for 1,360 villages of Haryana, 631 solid waste management units and 414 liquid waste management units have been completed.
Under the Urban Solid Waste Management Scheme of Haryana, all Urban Local Bodies have been divided into 14 clusters. In this direction, the work on Faridabad-Gurugram cluster and Sonipat-Panipat cluster has already begun. Special emphases are being laid on establishing Waste to Energy Plant in Haryana.

Chandigarh, Oct 2 – Haryana Governor, Mr. Satyadeo Narain Arya said that Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of Swachh Bharat-Swasthya Bharat, all round development, Make in India and uplift of poor, has been realised by the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi.
The Governor was speaking after paying floral tributes to father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister, Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri on the occasion of their Jayanti at Haryana Raj Bhavan, here today.
He said that the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi has realised the vision of Mahatma Gandhi by implementing various schemes such as Ayushman Bharat Yojana, Make in India, Digital India, Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.
The Governor said that as a result of the works done by second Prime Minister of India, Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri for autonomy and self dependency of the country, India has not only become self-dependent in terms of security and food grains, but it is also capable of exporting food grains and providing security to other countries. Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri promoted Green Revolution by giving the slogan of ‘Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan’.
He said that the entire country has been celebrating the Jayantis of these two great personalities. He urged the youth to follow discipline and unity, and work for the progress of the country. That will be the real tribute to both Mahatma Gandhi and Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri, he added.

Dhesi, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Mrs. Keshni Anand Arora, Additional Chief Secretary, Excise and Taxation Department, Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Chief Secretary, School Education Department, Mrs. Dheera Khandelwal and Secretary to Governor, Mr. Vijay Dahiya.
