The mission of chess for success is to help children to develop the skills necessary for success in school and in life through learning chess. Chess has acquired a high reputation as being a means to discipline the mind because it requires a strong memory and peculiar powers of combination.
An Inter school chess competition for under 14 and under 17 students under the aegis of Sahodaya school complex Jammu was held in Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua. 187 reputed CBSE schools participated in the competition. It was inaugurated by Mr. Raj Kumar (KAS) RTO Kathua. He appreciated the initiative of Sahodaya school complex Jammu that they gave opportunities to all the students and also appreciated Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua for conducting such a big championship. Choir of Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua welcomed all with a melodious welcome song.
Mr. Raj Kumar in his speech encouraged children to participate in such games and guided the students about the benefits of chess. Mrs. Nirmal Mahana Secretary Jammu Sahodaya was also present at the inaugural ceremony. Mrs Charu Andotra Principal of IPS Kathua and Mrs. Ruchi Gupta Principal of The pathways International School Kathua graced the occasion.
In this championship the winner trophy was bagged by BSF School Jammu whereas runner up trophy was bagged by MHAC Nagbani School. In under 14 (Girls) Malvika Billowria of BSF School Jammu got first position, Sachita S. APS Kaluchak bagged second position and Rydhima Gupta of Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua secured third position. In under 17 Arushi Kotwal of BSF School Jammu bagged first position, Aditi Choudhary APS Damana bagged second position Esha Ahlawat of APS Jammu Cantt Secured third position. In Under 14 (Boys) Parnav Abrol of Banyan International School got first Position, Ayush of Heritage School bagged second position and Natik Tiwari of MV International School secured third position. In Under 17 (Boy) Ajay Salathia of MHAC Nagbani School got first position, Sidharth Pandoh of BSF School Jammu bagged second position and Paras Jandyal of Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua secured third position Arushi Sharma and Sangeeta Rana of M.V International were given consolation prize in under 14 and under 17 respectively. Anurag Sambyal of MV International and Nirbhay Partap Singh of JK Public School Kathua got consolation in under 14 and under 17 respectively in boys category.
Shuchita Gupta Principal of Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua welcomed all the dignatries and students. She also encouraged the students to participate in such types of events and it sharpens our mind and enhance discipline. In future also such participation are always involved to boost the confidence level in the students.
At last Mrs. Rohini Aima Principal cum Vice Chairperson of Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu distributed the prizes, blessed the students and motivated them to participates in these events time to time and also conveyed vote of thanks.
