POONCH, DECEMBER 8: National Lok Adalat under the supervision of Supreme Court and Hon’ble High Court of J&K was organized today in the District Court Complex in which Judicial Officers, Bar Members, Bank Employees, litigants and general public participated.
Chairman DLSA, Zabair Ahmed Raza (Principal District and Sessions Judge) highlighted the significance and role of Lok Adalats in settling public issues of different nature in a total transparent and accountable manner ensuring speedy justice dispensation to the litigants.
At District headquarter, two benches were constituted and first was presided over by Zabair Ahmad Raza, Principal District and Sessions Judge and assisted by Som Lal Sub-Judge Special Mobile Magistrate while the second bench was presided over by Mohd Ashraf Khan CJM and assisted by Lal Hussain Mushtaq Advocate.
At Surankote, the bench was presided over by Ashan-ul-Haq Malik Sub-Judge and assisted by Sarfraz Nawaz Qureshi Additional Mobile Magistrate Surankote.
At Mendhar, Choudhary Riaz Ahmad Munsiff JMIC presided over the bench and was assisted by Advocate Shafiq Ahmed Khatana.
A total number of 515 cases were taken up in the national Lok Adalat which inter alia include civil, criminal, MACT, Bank Recovery, Pre-Litigation and other cases. Of these, 357 cases were settled by all the respective benches by way of mediation, conciliation and compromise.
Meanwhile, 14 MACT cases, 21 Pre-litigation cases, 73 criminal cases and 23 civil cases were also decided.
