Karnal: There was high drama for more than four hours in Sector 8 here on Wednesday after residents spotted a leopard in a house.
The police, with the help of forest and wildlife officials from Karnal and Rohtak, succeeded in capturing the big cat.
Confirming the incident, Dalbir Singh, DSP, Assandh, said the leopard was spotted by the owner of a house when he was cleaning the house, causing panic.
They saw the impression of a paw and informed the authorities. After getting information, he and other police officials reached the spot and informed the authorities concerned.
The family members were not sure when the leopard reached their house as they had not gone to the first floor for the past two days, said the DSP. He said it did not hurt anyone.
Forest and wildlife officials tranquilised the big cat and managed to put it in a cage. As per sources, the same leopard had been spotted near the Karnal jail a few days back.
