Kulgam: Three militants have been killed by the security forces during an early morning encounter on Sunday, here in the Wani Mohalla locality of Khudwani area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
The encounter has stopped for the moment after the killing of the three militants and the security forces are conducting search operations in the area.
Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid said that three bodies of the militants were recovered from the gunfight site. The identity of the slain militants was not immediately known.
In a tweet, Vaid said the militants were responsible for the killing of a police constable Mohd Saleem of Kulgam whose body was recovered yesterday from Kulgam.
Saleem was abducted by the militants from his home in Kulgam district on Friday night.
This comes a day after an encounter broke out between the security forces and terrorists in Tanghdar sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday.
