LBA rally seeking ‘UT status for Ladakh’ on Nov 26

LEH: In view of the recent significant political developments in the State, Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) Leh decided to organise a mega rally on November 26 to demand ‘Union Territory Status with Legislature for Ladakh’.
This was decided in an emergency meeting held in Chowkhang Vihara on Friday under the chairmanship of President LBA Tsewang Thinles. The meeting was attended by LBA Vice Presidents, LBA Youth and Women wing, LBA block presidents and executive members, LBA Central Working Committee members and General Council members and representatives of several societies and women organisations. The meeting called in the wake of the recent political developments in the State.
The meeting pledged that besides the UT demand for Ladakh, inclusion of Bhoti language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution, declaration of Ladakh as a Tribal Area and establishment of a Central University in Ladakh will be among other demands during the scheduled protest rally. However, ‘Union Territory Status with Legislature for Ladakh’ will be the main agenda as ‘UT status for Ladakh’ has been a demand of the people of Leh, Ladakh for several decades now.
