Inter-District Volleyball tournament begins at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER-26:- Divisional Level Inter District Volleyball tournament for Boys for all age groups took off today here at Degree College Boys’ ground.

The tournament is being organized by the Department of youth Services and Sports with the participation of 250 sportspersons drawn from 9 District of Jammu Division.

Deputy Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion who declared the tournament open, while Principal PG Collage for, UdhayBano was the special guest and Deputy District Election Officer Udhampur, Sapna Kotwal presided over the function.

The DDC appreciated the efforts of organizers and said that such activities would go a long way in nourishing the sports talent in the district. He called upon the youth to take part in sports activities to keep themselves physical and mentally fit.

District Youth Services and Sports, Sudesh Kumar gave a detailed brief of the sports activities being carried out by the department for encouraging sports culture in the district.

In U/14Yrs Boys District Ramban beat District Kathua by 2-0 sets, District Poonch beat District Samba by 2-0 sets, District Udhampur defeated District Rajouri by 2-0 sets and District Doda beat District Jammu by 2-1 sets.

In U/17Yrs Boys, District Ramban beat District Samba by 2-0 sets,District Doda defeated District Udhampur by 2-0 sets, Didtrict Jammu defeated district Rajouri by 2-0 sets and District Kathua defeated District Poonch by 2-0 sets.

In U/19Yrs Boys, District Kathua defeated district Rajouri by 2-1 sets and District Ramban defeated district Jammu by 2-1 sets.

Semi finals and finals will be played tomorrow. The matches were officiated by Kuldeep Sharma, ManikNargotra, Raman Kumar, Meenu, Nisha Sharma,Vikrant,Sanjeev Verma, Vinod kumar, VedParkesh, Pushap Kumar, Surinder Gupta, Rakesh Kumar and Rakesh Modi.

Among others present were Zonal Physical Education Officers Jaswinder Singh , Sanjay Gupta , Som Dev khajuria, Rakesh Kumar, Jagdish Kumar, Pritam Singh, Bandana Sharma and Des Raj.
