Bandipora: DC conducts tour of rural areas

BANDIPORA, DECEMBER 28: Deputy Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary on Friday conducted an extensive tour of rural areas and inspected facilities made available to the public.

He was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Sheikh Zulfikar Azad, Assistant Commissioner Development Jahangir Khandey, Chief Education Officer Munshi Javed, Joint Director Planning Abdul Majeed Karnai, Tehsildar Headquarter Mubashir Saleem Nazki, Tehsildar Bandipora Rouf Iqbal and other senior officers of the district.

The Deputy Commissioner visited villages along the banks of Wullar Lake and interacted with the people.

At Kulhama, he visited Boys Middle School and interacted with the residents. The locals informed that there are 400 students in the middle school and demanded additional staff and class rooms to cater to the need of huge strength of students.

Dr Choudhary announced 4 additional classrooms for the school and asked Department of Rural Development to develop a playground for the village in the vicinity of the school.

Various delegations of nearby villages including Kunzpora, Nadihal and Lankreshipora met the Deputy Commissioner and projected various demands including augmentation of water, adequate availability of ration, repair of local roads and other related issues.

He gave a patient hearing to the people and assured to redress the grievances. He also gave on-spot directions to the concerned officials for early redressal of certain grievances. He directed the officials of Public Health Engineering to visit the area and come up with a comprehensive plan for augmentation of water supply.

Dr Choudhary directed the officers to regularly visit the villages and interact with the people so that they get the firsthand account of the problems faced by them.
