Meeting on convergence plan under Poshan Abhiyan held at Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, JUNE 08: District Development Commissioner Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana today convened a meeting with the members of District Convergence Plan Committee to discuss and finalise the strategy to be adopted in the preparation of district Convergance Plan (DCP) under Poshan Abhiyan.

Assistant Commissioner Development Anil Chandail, Ic/ PO ICDS Tariq Qazi, CMO Kishtwar, Dr. Abdul Majeed, AD Food,  AEE  PHE,  representative from Municipality, official from Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) besides others attended the meeting.

Detailed discussion was held on formulation of district convergence plan under POSHAN Abhiyan besides various indicators covering maternal and child health, nutrition, promotion of safe drinking water and sanitation facilities, food fortification, complementary feeding and behavioural changes through involvement of all converging departments were also discussed in depth.

PO ICDS Kishtwar, informed the meeting that main objective of the District level convergence plan committee is to ensure, prevent and reduce under-nutrition and stunting in children, reduce the prevalence of anemia/ other diseases among young children, women and Adolescent girls, reduce low birth rate.

He further highlighted about the importance of Poshan Abhiyaan and District level convergence plan committee besides he apprised the meeting that all the activities undertaken will converge at the village levels at Anganwadi Centres in all the blocks in the district through convergance plan.

The approach of Poshan Abhiyaan is to eradicate malnutrition or undernourishment across the country by 2022 by ensuring convergence of various nutrition-related schemes for better and effective delivery to the targeted beneficiaries for attaining better and healthier life, he further added.

DDC directed I/c PO ICDS to formulate the district covergance plan keeping in consideration various indicators and interventions to prevent and eradicate malnourishment viz. Stunting, Wasting, Low Birth, Weight and Anaemia and submit the plan to office of DDC within week’s time for further approval.

He further laid emphases on the mass awareness among the people about various central and state sponsored schemes.
