DDC Rajouri commissions three New Water Tankers in the district
District admn strengthens PHE Department by providing Rs.36 Lakhs for procurement
RAJOURI, JUNE 08: In order to meet the shortage of Drinking water in the district, District Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad today commissioned three water tankers and handed over to the PHE department.
The inaugural ceremony was held in presence of Superintending Engineer PHE Manish Bhatt and Executive Engineer PHE Rajouri Division Sunil Koul.
It is pertinent to mention that two tankers have the capacity of six thousand litres and the third one has the capacity of four thousand litres. DDC Rajouri released an amount of₹36 Lacs for procurement of water tankers.
While speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that there were complaints from the far flung areas regarding the shortage of water and earlier the PHE department had only three tankers in the district. He said that the capacity of the department has been doubled with the commissioning of three additional tankers.
He also said that district administration is formulating short term and long term plan to meet the challenges of drinking water shortage in the district. He said that the DPRs for the long term plan have been prepared and every house in the district will have piped water connection.
The DDC informed that PHE department has the schemes of about 70 crores under languishing projects in the district and the deadlines for the completion of work have been set already.
The DDC also visited the water testing laboratory of PHE department and took stock of parameters which are used for checking the quality of drinking water.
The DDC said that water stressed habitations of Rajouri district shall get a major Relief during the ensuing peak summer season.
