SHOPIAN: MARCH, 16:District Development Commissioner Shopian, Dr Owais Ahmed, today launched Chinar plantation drive here at mini secretariat Arhama Shopian. The drive was organized by the Floriculture Department Shopian during which various saplings of chinar trees were planted.
Accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Mr Shabir Hussain, Dr Owais planted a sapling of chinar tree in the premises of DC Office Shopian.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC highlighted the importance of plantation for saving and safeguarding the environment and said that to improve green cover in Shopian it is a good initiative and we all must plant trees more and more in future .He also said that as many as 200 chinar trees will be planted at various schools and colleges during the ongoing chinar plantation drive across the district.
On the occasion the DDC stressed the officers to make concerted efforts to ensure hassle free plantation drive and called for creating mass awareness among the students and masses through seminars and other related activities on the importance of planting more and more trees.
Among others Floriculture Officer Shopian and other concerned officers and officials were present.
