Jammu: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), J&K, Divisional Office Jammu, through its NEP Cell, today inaugurated a Three-Day Orientation Programme on “Pathways to Progress – Understanding NEP 2020 Initiatives: Nayi Shiksha, Nayi Soch” at Krishi Bhawan, Talab Tillo, Jammu. The programme is being organised for around hundred teachers and masters of the Jammu Division to strengthen their understanding of the transformative reforms envisaged under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. Naseem Javaid (JKAS), Director School Education Jammu and Director SCERT J&K, as the Chief Guest, along with Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director, SCERT Jammu Division, in the presence of senior faculty members and Coordinator.
The inaugural session commenced with the traditional lighting of the auspicious lamp by the dignitaries, symbolising the dissemination of knowledge and enlightenment. Ms. Monica Sharma, Associate Coordinator of the programme, presented the formal welcome address, warmly welcoming the dignitaries and participants and highlighting the theme and significance of the orientation programme.
A brief concept note was presented by Ms. Manu Vasudeva, Convenor, NEP Cell and Coordinator of the programme, who elaborated on the objectives, structure, and expected outcomes of the orientation programme, emphasising its role in strengthening teachers’ professional competencies in alignment with NEP 2020.
An insightful address was delivered by Worthy Joint Director, SCERT Jammu Division, who underlined the importance of adopting innovative, inclusive, and learner-centric pedagogical approaches. She encouraged participants to actively engage in the deliberations and contribute towards effective implementation of NEP initiatives at the grassroots level.
The inaugural session concluded with a special address by the esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Naseem Javaid, Director School Education Jammu and Director SCERT J&K, who urged participants to act as catalysts of educational transformation and effectively implement NEP 2020 initiatives. He highlighted the importance of PARAKH for competency-based and holistic assessment, emphasised integration of life skills education, and stressed the need to promote mental health awareness and emotional well-being among learners through supportive and inclusive learning environments.
The orientation programme aims to provide conceptual clarity on NEP 2020 reforms, familiarise participants with SCERT-led initiatives and state-level frameworks, strengthen pedagogical and assessment capacities, and enable Heads of Institutions to lead NEP-aligned school transformation.
The first day of the programme included an overview of NEP 2020, National Curriculum Framework-School Education 2023, National Professional Standards for Teachers and Early Childhood Care and Education. The upcoming sessions during the programme will deliberate upon key themes such as PARAKH, NPST for teachers, Re-envisioning Libraries in the Light of NEP 2020, Digital Learning through DIKSHA and NISHTHA, Teacher Strategies for Effective Classroom Transaction, PM e-Vidya, Toy- Based Pedagogy and Innovative Teaching-Learning Programmes. These sessions will be facilitated by experienced SCERT faculty members.
The three-day orientation programme is expected to equip teachers with progressive pedagogical approaches, strengthen their professional capacities, and empower them to lead educational transformation in alignment with the vision of NEP 2020, with a special emphasis on PARAKH to promote competency based assessment, improve learning outcomes, and ensure holistic evaluation of students.
