Veterans’ Day Observed at Sports Stadium, Doda

Doda, January 14-Veterans’ Day was solemnly observed at the Sports Stadium, Doda, under the aegis of 10 Rashtriya Rifles. The event was organised to honour the selfless service, dedication, and sacrifices of ex-servicemen and to reaffirm the nation’s continued commitment towards their welfare.

 

The programme was graced by the Brigade Commander, Shri Sunil Mishra, Deputy Commissioner Doda, Shri Harvinder Singh, IAS, and Commanding Officer, 10 RR Doda, Shri Rahul Katiyar. The occasion witnessed the participation of a large number of ex-servicemen, defence personnel, senior civil administration officials, NCC representatives, and members of the general public.

 

On the occasion, various welfare and educational schemes of the Department of School Education, aimed at students studying in Government institutions, were presented and highlighted. Mr. Umesh Kumar, District Nodal Officer (DNO), and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Koul, Associate NCC Officer, briefed the dignitaries about the initiatives and benefits available to students, with special emphasis on quality education, financial assistance, and institutional support mechanisms.

 

Adding colour and patriotic fervour to the event, students of Government Higher Secondary School Boys, Doda, presented a patriotic dance performance. The performance was led and coordinated by Mr. Majid Zargar, Associate NCC Officer (ANO), under the able guidance of Dr. Rishi Manhas, Principal, HSS Boys Doda, and was highly appreciated by the audience.

 

The dissemination of information regarding educational schemes aimed to create awareness among ex-servicemen and distinguished guests, encouraging optimal utilisation of government initiatives for the academic upliftment of students, particularly those from defence backgrounds.

 

The event concluded with expressions of gratitude towards veterans for their invaluable contribution to the nation and a renewed resolve to further strengthen coordination between the armed forces, civil administration, and educational institutions for holistic societal development.
