A 22-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her rented accommodation in Shahimajra village on Friday.
Before hanging herself, she tried to cut her veins, said police officials, who also recovered a knife and a mobile phone from the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Sapna (22), a native of Bengal, the police said. She had been living in Shahimajra village for the past two years and was a dancer, said the police.
When the victim did not answer repeated calls of her parents, they called the owner, who further called the caretaker of the house.
The caretaker found the door of the room locked from inside. He saw the woman hanging from the ceiling fan from a window of the room and informed the police.
