Four army soldiers, including a Major, were killed in a gunfight along the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Tuesday.
An army Major and three soldiers were killed while foiling an infiltration bid in Gurez.
According to media reports, four terrorists were also killed in the operation.
Earlier, senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bandipora, Zulfikar Ahmad said the firing started at around 1 am.
“Ceasefire violation in Gurez,” said the deputy commissioner Bandipora Shahid Iqbal Choudhary on Twitter.
Details of the operation are awaited.
