A school-going boy drowned while crossing a stream in Bhaleesa area of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Raja Owais(16), a class 9 student from Amritpura-Chilli Pingal area.
Reports said Owais was on way to the school to appear in an examination when he slipped while crossing Chinyass Nullah.
Following the incident, the district administration has ordered closure of all schools and deferred the exams “as a precautionary measure.”
Torrential rains lashed the area since last night and created havoc in entire Chenab Valley as flash floods, landslides and mudslide were reported from several places.
