Man hurt in firing incident during clash between SAD, Congress workers in Moga

A man was injured in a firing incident during a clash between the SAD and the Congress workers in the SDM office at Dharamkot town in Moga district during the filing of nomination papers for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections.

The injured has been identified as Simranjit Singh (40), resident of Datewala village is is said to be a Congress worker. The clash started on raising of slogans over the sacrilege probe.

The SSP, Gurpreet Toor, has reached the spot and investigations were in progress.

The district administration has tightened the security in the offices of the returning officers as today is the last day of filing the nominations.

A Scorpio jeep of an Akali worker also damaged in the clash. The injured man has been admitted to the civil hospital. He suffered bullet injury on his leg.

A police force has been deployed at Dharamkot to prevent any further clashes.
