REASI, SEPTEMBER 26: Deputy Commissioner, Prasanna Ramaswamy G, today expressed anguish over some unscrupulous elements spreading hoax regarding measles-rubella vaccination.
Speaking at an emergency meeting attended by prominent civil society members, religious representatives and leading doctors, he said that some anti-social elements are misleading people about the vaccination.
Dispelling their doubts, the DC said that the scheme is an initiative of the central government in association with the World Health Organisation, WHO and aims at to eradicate measles among the children. He said it is part of the government’s ambitious vaccination programme and people need to come forward in getting their children vaccinated.
The prominent citizens and the clerics present at the meeting promised the Deputy Commissioner their support in eradicating the hoaxes. Those present at the meeting also included Chief Medical Officer, Reasi, Dr Parminder Singh and District Health Officer, Dr Rajinder Kumar.
