A police spokesman also tweeted that ”3 persons who’d gone missing in 2015 apprehended near LoC in Kupwara”.
They said Ali Mohammad Sheikh, resident of Trehgam, Ghulam Geelani Khatana and Mir Hussain Khatana, residents of Dardpora, Kralpora, Kupwara, were reported missing in 2015. However, investigation later confirmed that they had crossed over to PoK.
Sources said on Sunday troops of Jammu and Kashmir Light Infrantry (JAKLI), guarding the LoC at Balbir post in Keran sector, noticed a group of people sneaking into this side from PoK. However, when challenged, they raised their hands and surrendered, sources added.
All the three have been handed over to state police for further investigation.
Sources said Ali Mohammad had first crossed over to PoK for receiving arms training and returned in 1991 before again crossing to PoK in 1996 only to return next year (1997). However, he later surrendered before the Army before later ex-filtrating back to PoK in 2015.
