NDRF joins rescuers to locate truckers missing after Kashmir highway landslide

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Saturday joined the rescue operation underway in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir to locate three truckers feared buried under a landslide.

Three truckers from Punjab, including father-son duo, are believed to have been hit by a landslide on Monday at Battery Cheshma area on the Srinagar-Jammu highway.

SSP Ramban Anita Sharma said that NDRF has joined the rescue operation being carried out by the SDRF, state police and the volunteers from Ramban.

Sharma said that a land excavator is being used to remove debris left behind by the landslide.
The three truckers are feared buried under the massive landslide.

According to relatives and the truck-owner, three persons on board the vehicle bearing registration number PB06AR-4045—loaded with apple cartons—was hit by a massive landslide after reaching Battery Chashma.

Rescue operation was launched on Wednesday after the relatives approached the authorities informing them about the missing truckers.
