ANANTNAG, NOVEMBER 15: Swasth Bharat Yatra, an outreach of ‘Eat Right India’ movement consisting of 150 ‘Volunteer-Cyclists’ along with the ‘Eat Right Mobile Unit’ and ‘Mobile Food Testing Unit’, spreading awareness about healthy eating and adulteration in food items, organized by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), reached Anantnag today.
The Yatra is being carried out in the State under the overall supervision of Commissioner Food Safety, Dr Abdul Kabir Dar and has so far traversed Leh, Ganderbal, Baramulla, and Kupwara, Srinagar and Budgam districts.
In Anantnag, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Parvaiz Sajad, in presence of Deputy Director FSSAI, and Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Anantnag formally inaugurated the campaign from Government Degree College Boys Anantnag.
While addressing the audience, the ADC Anantnag said that we must take utmost care while taking food and check its quality. He added that healthy lifestyle depends upon healthy food habits and healthy food habits can be inculcated only after having the awareness.
On the occasion, participants including students and other volunteers were given awareness regarding good food habits and healthy lifestyle like good personal hygiene, weight management, stress management and avoiding tobacco, drugs and use of alcohol.
They were informed about the importance of a balanced diet and were advised to be mindful of what “we eat and how much we eat to prevent malnutrition and lifestyle diseases.” The participants took a pledge to take healthy and balanced food for a better lifestyle.
Later, a rally, flagged off by the ADC Anantnag, in which college students, teachers, Food Safety Officers of Anantnag and other volunteers participated.
