Fresh snowfall closes Mughal road.
Shopian: Following the fresh snowfall in the high altitude areas including Pir Ki Gali today, Shopian district administration closes Mughal road till further orders.

The Mughal road- connecting the twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu region with south Kashmir’s Shopian district was closed today early Morning in a following the fresh snowfall in the upper reaches like Pir ki Gali. Earlier the road was closed on November 3 after heavy snowfall in the region, the road was later cleared by the mechanical wing of Mughal road development authorities in a record time of five days, despite shooting stones and avalanches at many places of the road.
An official from district administration told that the road will remain closer till the snow clearance will be completed and after the improvement in weather.
The Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Dr Owais Ahmad has appealed people to avoid plying on Mughal Road and particularly night journey after the clearance of snow on Mughal Road in late hours due to the continuous rain,snow for last 24 hours.

“If someone wants to travel they should first contact the district headquarter, control room established at mini-Secretariat Shopian,” he said.
