RAJOURI DECEMBER 15: The three-day long awareness campaign organized by Regional Outreach Bureau Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Govt Of India, Field Outreach Bureau Rajouri concluded here today at Nowshera.
The last leg of the campaign was held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Nowshera. The theme for today’s programmewas Drug Abuse/Substance Abuse and its ill effects on the society.
Ashok Kumar Sharma Principal of the host School, J.P Singh Dy CEO Nowshera, Mohammad Amin SHO & Dr Divya Medical officer. Sardar Bachiter Singh vice-Principle, Vinod Sharma social activist, Ramlal Performer ROB Jammu, Deep Mala, Teacher were also present.
Ashok Kumar Sharma in his address urged the students and the teachers to come forward to help those who are caught in drug addiction. He said that it is the moral duty of every citizen of India to come forward and contribute towards the fight against drug menace.
Speaking on the subject, DrDivya enlightened the students about ill effects of drug abuse on human body. She said that drugs are harmful to our health when these are used in excess and for a prolonged period of time. Drug addiction is an addiction if a person consumes it for atleast two years regularly and is not able to leave it even if one wishes to, .she said.
Mohd Amin, SHO Nowshera, in his address, said that drug abuse is a curse for the society as it effects the family and social life of addicted persons. He also made the gathering aware about NDPS Act prohibiting drug presentation. Teachers Deep Mala and Vinod Sharma also spoke on the topic.
Vijay Matto, Incharge FOB Rajouri, in his welcome address enlightened the students about the working of Regional Outreach Bureau Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Govt Of India. He said that ROB J&K is doing similar programmes in Poonch, Udhampur, Kathua and Jammu.
A cultural programme, drawing competition anda seminar were the main attractions.
Students securing first, second and third positions in drawing competition were awarded. The troupe of ROB presented theme based and folk items to entertain the audience.
