Police on Thursday foiled a protest rally of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference taken out to protest against the recent civilian killings in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Scores of National Conference workers led by party general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar took out a protest rally from party headquarters at Nawai-Subh to Lal Chowk.
However, heavy deployment of police and paramilitary forces tried to stop the marchers near TRC junction, but the marchers were able to breach the barricades.
However, as the marchers reached Sher-e-Kashmir Park the police didn’t allow them to march towards city center Lal Chowk forcing the protesters to return.
The protesters later dispersed off peacefully.
