Diarrhoea Control Fortnight launched in Samba

SAMBA MAY 28: The Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) was launched today here under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer Samba. Dr. Rajinder Samyal.

As a part of the event, zinc tablets and ORS packets were distributed to ASHA workers and other intermediaries, They were asked to reach out to children in every nook and corner of the district.

The IDFC is being held from 28th May to 8th June, 2019 to control the occurrence of Diarrhoea on children in whole onslaught of summer and monsoon season. Various awareness programmes are being conducted in  the district regarding IDFC.

 The drive will ensure  that ORS is available in every household when needed at the time of diarrhoea. ASHAs will visit to households with children below 5 years of age for pre-positioning the ORS. They will also explain the benefits of these precautions.

        All health facilities will have ORS corners which will continuously demonstrate the way to prepare the ORS mixture. These corners will also administer ORS and zinc to children who are in need of the same.

Dr. Suman Gupta, District Health Officer will monitor  the ORS-Zinc Corners set-up at health care facilities and non-health facilities such as schools and Anganwadi centres. Hand-washing demonstration are also  being give in the schools.

 The Frontline workers are demonstrating ORS preparation, along with counselling on feeding during diarrhoea and hygiene and sanitation.

  Children detected with danger signs are being referred by concerned ASHA. Mobile teams have been formed  to visit the slums/ hard- to- reach areas and to ensure distribution of ORS to under five children.
