Jammu: It’s the 3rd time electricity pole catches fire at the same spot in Prem Nagar,Jammu. Though no major accident took place but one is left wondering that how can the same pole catch fire again and again in a month.
According to the locals, the area has been brought under new wiring system to facilitate the use of electricity meters. And since that very day the transformer in the area and a few particular poles keep catching fire.
Mr. Mathews, a local, said that, ” It appears as if we are living near some border, once the wires catch fire, it’s less like a fire and more like blasts taking place”.
Anthony Mathews , living next to the mentioned spot, said, ” Since this has become a regular event now, we live under a constant fear”. He added, ” Families with children are always scared for the lives of their loved ones “.
People of the area have complained a lot many times but only temporary fix ups have been done till now.
Residents demand that a permanent solution should be found else they will have to resort to strikes and dharnas. In this heat it’s difficult to visualise living without electricity, hence the administration is requested through Paigaam to look into the matter and find a solution to their woes.
