Srinagar, June 9 : Government forces and militants on Saturday evening exchanged a brief gunfire in the forest area of Bandipora district of north Kashmir.
A police officer told media that a group of militants shot at an army party which could only hear the gun shots but could not ascertain the exact location of the militants because of the darkness. Army’s 14 RR cordoned off Raynar forest area today evening following the incidents.
As per the security forces, militants hiding in the area opened fire upon them triggering off a brief exchange of gunfire.
However, there was no immediate report of any casualty on either side so far. Additional reinforcements of army and SOG were rushed to the area.
