JAMMU, JUNE 23
Javed Ahmed Rana, senior National Conference leader and former Deputy Chairman of JK Legislature has expressed shock and utter dismay at the reprehensible statement of former Jammu and Kashmir minister and BJP leader Choudhary Lal Singh. He said fascistic elements like him if allowed to roam freely would tear apart JK’s pluralist-secular fabric.
Rana has urged Governor N N Vohra to immediately get former minister arrested for his derogatory remarks against the community of journalists, terming him a serious threat to JK’s communal harmony.
“His statement against the journalists is utterly malicious and reprehensible and merits immediate action against him. The Governor administration must immediately book and arrest him for his highly objectionable comments and jibes against journalists,” the formed Deputy Chairman suggested.
“Singh is unrelentingly making desperate efforts to give communal color to the heinous act committed against an 8-year-old innocent child of Kuthua,” the NC leader accused.
He said what’s more non-sensical and fascistic, Singh even accused Kashmiri journalists of creating a ‘wrong atmosphere’ in the Valley.
Pertinently, Singh, in a Press Conference warned journalists to ‘mend their ways’ over their style of reporting on the sensational murder and rape a minor girl belonging to a nomadic community in Kathua.
“Do you have to live like what happened to Basharat, so that such a situation emerges?” he asked in an apparent reference to assassination of Rising Kashmir editor Shujaat Bukhari outside his office near Lal Chowk on the eve Eid.,” Singh threatened.
