Jammu: The corridors of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, stirred today with colours, cadence and creativity as the Two-Day Division Level Kala Utsav of Jammu Division unfurled its artistic banners. What began as an event soon breathed into a celebration — of expression, imagination, and the undying grace of youthful art.

The festival was inaugurated by Ms. Anusuya, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jammu, who presided as the Chief Guest, her presence lending both dignity and delight to the gathering. Mr. Gurdev Kumar, Joint Director School Education Jammu, adorned the occasion as Special Guest, while Mr. Ajeet Sharma, Chief Education Officer Jammu, in his welcoming address, extended heartfelt greetings to the participants, dignitaries, and mentors who have nurtured the seeds of talent across districts.

Artists from ten districts of Jammu Division have converged here — each a bearer of local rhythm and regional hue — having earned their place through Zonal and District-level triumphs. The competitions span seven creative categories, transforming the school into a living gallery of ideas, motion, and melody.

In her address, Ms. Anusuya lauded the Department of School Education for sculpting such platforms where imagination finds form and confidence finds voice. She urged the young participants to walk the path of art not as a pastime but as a way of perceiving life — tenderly, truthfully, and with empathy.

Mr. Gurdev Kumar, while highlighting the essence of integrating art into education, remarked that Kala Utsav is not merely an event of competition, but a communion of creative souls — a dialogue between tradition and tomorrow.
In his remarks, Mr. Ajeet Sharma reiterated that true education breathes through aesthetic awakening. Quoting the spirit of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, he underlined that creativity is not an accessory to learning, but its very pulse — the rhythm that keeps intellect humane.

The inaugural day witnessed a riot of performances — dances that carried stories, songs that whispered roots, and artworks that spoke in silence. Each act, a testimony that Jammu’s cultural soil still hums with wonder.
The festival shall conclude tomorrow with the valedictory ceremony, where applause shall turn into acknowledgment, and young creators shall be felicitated for painting their dreams upon the canvas of collective pride.
