Activist, who led Kathua-rape protest, booked for domestic violence

Social activist and lawyer Talib Hussain, who led the stir in demand for justice for Kathua rape victim, has been booked for allegedly assaulting his wife and attempting to kill her for dowry.

Talib’s, 30-year-old wife Nusrat Begum has filed a complaint. Chief Judicial Magistrate Shabnam Sheikh ordered an investigation on this on Thursday.

The couple married in 2015 and have two kids.

The FIR was registered after neighbors of Talib revealed that Nusrat had been living at her father Mohammad Tahir’s home for long. The lawyer had allegedly thrashed her for dowry.

Nusrat, her father, and several other locals brought a written complaint and court’s order.

Further, Talib’s brother was also booked for molestation
