Hyderabad: 2 Students Killed, 5 Injured After School Roof Collapses

At least two students were killed and five others injured when the roof of a private school in Hyderabad collapsed earlier on Thursday. The incident was reported when the seven students were practicing Karate in their school. All the injured have been shifted to Anupama hospital where they are currently undergoing treatment.

The school authorities are being questioned in the matter. The deceased students have been identified as 9-year-old Manikeertana and 8-year-old Chandana, both the students of New Century School in Kukatpally. The injured are: Nikita, Naresh, Sandeep, Sahasra and Divya Sree.

Madhapur DCP A Venkateshwara Rao said that a case of negligence against the school authorities has been registered.

The incident was reported just before the six labourers died and one left injured after a crane at an under-construction cement factory collapsed in Kalaburagi city of Karnataka, ANI reported on Thursday. Police reached the spot and began the rescue operations.

The injured labourers were rushed to nearby hospital for the treatment. Recently, five people died and 50 were injured after a tin shed of a makeshift stadium collapsed during a tractor race in Sriganganagar in Rajasthan. Many were feared trapped in the accident. The incident took place in Dharmandi area.
