n another terror attack in the valley, militants carried out a grenade attack in Awantipora, near Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces have been put on alert and hunt for terrorists who attacked is on. So far, there are no reports of any casualties but the concerned departments are monitoring the situation. Previously in June, in another terror attack, two militants were killed during an encounter with security forces. The gunbattle took place in Kulgam’s Chadder area of Jammu and Kashmir. One of the militants surrendered to security agencies.
The security agencies launched the operation after terrorists attacked a petrol party. Following the attack, state security agencies dismissed internet services in the affected region and launched their operation. DGP Jammu and Kashmir, SP Vaid confirm that two terrorists were shot dead while one of them had surrendered to the police.
Prior to that, in another terror attack on June 22, 4 terrorists were killed during a gunbattle with the security forces in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh while speaking on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir said, “Reviewed the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and discussed the way forward at a meeting with the Governor and state administration in Srinagar. Development and good governance had remained elusive for the common people of Jammu and Kashmir.”
Rajnath also said, “We are committed to take all possible measures that will bring accountability, transparency and good governance in the system. With a renewed focus on good governance and development, the Centre is looking forward to kindle new aspirations and hopes amongst the people of the State.”
