SAMBA, MAY 12:  Arrangements for holy month of Ramazan were discussed and finalized here today a high level meeting of officers chaired by District Development Commissioner S Rajinder Singh Tara.

The meeting was attended by senior functionaries of   police, Revenue, Municipal Committees, Food & Civil Supplies,  Power and PHE departments besides SDMs.

The DDC directed district administration to put in all possible arrangements to ensure adequate facilities at all religious places, including mosques for the devotees who come for prayers.

He asked the concerned departments to properly regulate supply of food grains, power and drinking water during the holy month. He also reviewed the Medicare, security, cleanliness and other arrangements made for the auspicious occasions. He asked the concerned functionaries to ensure that people may not face any inconvenience on account of power and water supply especially during  Sehri and Iftaar times.

Discussing various issues, the DDC directed the Municipal Committees of Samba, Vijaypur, Ramgarh and Bari Brahmna  to ensure cleanliness around religious places and the roads and paths leading to Eidgahs and Mosques.

He also directed the concerned to ensure that street lights are functional for the convenience of the devotees who go for prayers during late evening and early morning hours.

Similarly, the Police and Traffic authorities were directed to ensure security around the Mosques and better traffic management in the town to avoid any inconvenience to the devotees. The traffic police were asked to check wrong and idle parking.

The DDC also framed a committee to conduct regular market inspection to keep a watch on overcharging by traders and quality of food stuff sold by them during Ramadhan.
