Having been summoned by police for further investigation in Kerala, Bishop Franco Mulakkal of the Jalandhar Diocese on Saturday temporarily stepped down from his post.
He has appointed Mathew Kokkandum as administrator of the Diocese.
The Bishop in his official communication to all Fathers, Sisters and Brothers of the Diocese has said that the new administrator will look after the normal practice when he is away.
He has also appointed Father Joseph Thekkumkattil as Dean of Tanda Deanery and Father Subin Thekkadathu as Parochial Vicar, St Mary’s Church, Tanda.
The circular by the Bishop comes on a day when there have been reports that he could be asked to step down by the Vatican.
