At least five persons were injured in a massive fire that broke out in a multi-storey hotel here on Saturday.

The fire broke from the attic of the six-storey Pamposh Hotel near the Regal chowk around 2 pm and in no time spread to the other floors.

Over 10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot and people were moved out of the hotel. The fire tenders used hydraulic ladders to douse the flames.

“It was after many hours that the fire was brought under control,” a fire official said. “Our five men were injured during the operation. They are stable.”

The hotel has over 100 rooms and houses the offices of many news channels.

The cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet, the officer said.

The police said they would investigate the cause of the fire.
