PU Central Placement Cell organises Distribution of Scholarships by Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust


Central Placement Cell Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh organised a function on 18th May at the Department of Physics, Panjab University and distributed scholarships for extending financial aid to the needy students given by ‘Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust (Regd.)’ to 73 students .
This year 116 students applied for the same and the committee constituted by the Trust conducted the interview process to finalise 73 beneficiaries.The Sarbat da Bhala trust presented cheque of Rs. 3,19,830 and Rs 7,17,853 in two instalments to the Central Placement Cell, Panjab University for 73 applicants under this scholarship scheme from the Economically weaker section, Differently abled, Students/families affected by natural disaster and a student who has lost his/her father.
The eminent functionaries of the University Prof Navdeep Goyal, Chairman, Department of Physics, Prof Ramanjit Kaur Johal, Director Research Promotion Cell, PU, CA Vikram Nayyar, Finance Development Officer, PU, Prof. S.K. Chadha, Director P.U. Central Placement Cell, Dr. Amandeep Singh Marwaha (TPO UIAMS) were present on this occasion. The cheques were distributed to the 73 needy students and for the next academic session it was intimated that the process will be further streamlined so that the amount will be received even before the student has to pay the fees and it will be directly contributed to the Panjab University account
Professor S. K. Chadha and Dr. Amandeep Singh Marwaha from Central Placement Cell then apprised the audience about the philanthropic activities being supported by the trust, founded by Dr. S.P.S. Oberoi. Prof Chadha advised the students to work hard because the Trust is always ready to extend helping hand for the underprivileged but meritorious students. The dignitaries while distributing the cheques appreciated the efforts of the Central Placement Cell and thanked DR SPS Oberoi, Chairman of the Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust for this contribution for the needy students.
