Death penalty for two in Mandsaur rape case

A fast track court in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur has sentenced two men for raping an 8-year-old, less than two months after the incident that caused a nationwide outrage.
The two men—Iran and Asif—had lured the child standing outside her school in Mandsaur on June 26, raped her, tortured her, and then slit her throat. Footage in close circuit cameras showed the child, a Class 2 student, walking away with a man.
The incident sparked massive protests in the state against rising sexual violence in the state.
