CHENANI, JUNE 26: International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed today at Government Higher Secondary School, Chenani with the collaborative efforts of Drug and Control Organization and District Red Cross Society, Udhampur.
The programme was organized on the directions of District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Ravinder Kumar.
On the occasion, a symposium was organized on the topic, “Hazards of Drug Abuse” which was attended by large number of students along with staff of the school.
Sub Divisional Magistrate, Chenani Davinder Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering, the SDM appreciated the efforts of organizers for holding symposium on the topic and said such programmes go a long way in creating awareness among the public and young generations.
He urged upon the students to spread awareness about the drug abuse and illicit trafficking in their surroundings for the betterment of society.
Secretary Red Cross Society, Dr. V.P Sharma, Assistant Controller Drugs, Dr. Munish Gupta, Dr. Aprajita Sharma from PHC Chenani and Drug Inspector S. Tejveer Singh also shared their views regarding drug abuse with the students.
As many as 13 students hailing from different schools including GHSS Chenani, GHS Chenani, Brooklyn Mission High School Chenani and National Public high School Chenani participated in the contest and shared the views regarding the topic very effectively.
Tanish Thangri of HSS, Chenani stood first in the symposium while Priya Devi of GHSS, Chenani and Samayra Anthal of GHS Chenani clichéd second and third positions respectively. Prizes were given to all the participants on the occasion by the chief guest.
ZEO, Chunni Lal, Principal Satya Devi, Drug Inspector Manohar Lal Samyal, Members of Chemist Association Chenani were also present on the occasion.
